Robert Martinez
Hometown: Dublin, CA
Background: Growing up, I played competitive baseball year round and was recruited to pitch in college at the University of San Diego. After my baseball career came to a close, I looked for ways to continue to keep those competitive juices flowing and decided to pursue a new athletic career in running. In 2021, my wife Andrea and I moved from the Bay Area (San Jose) to North County San Diego (Carlsbad). After moving down, I had the itch to run with a team, which led to me joining PRT in the spring of 2023.
Racing Competitively Since: 2013

Highlights:
Rock and Roll San Diego 5K Winner (2021)
Qualifying and running the NYC Marathon
Successfully racing a 5K in an inflatable sumo suit (This is what happens when you take last in fantasy football)
Getting my wife to love running as much as I do + being her running coach
The Fun Questions:
Favorite Race: Carlsbad 5000
Favorite Workout: 12x400m or any workout at Lake Miramar
Why I Choose to Run for PRT: To run with great people and to keep Chuck in check from blasting workouts too hard, too early (note: like others before me, I have thus far been unsuccessful)
Favorite PRT Memory: Jeff Creighton’s 60th Birthday Run: Roads, Dirt Trails, Mud, Single-Track, Stream Crossings, Hills, Unofficial Water Stations… that run had everything.
What I Like to Do Besides Running: Stand-up paddle boarding (SUP), corn hole, hanging out with the doggie, Skye, watching sports, Friday date nights with Andrea.
