Noelle Van Rysselberghe
Hometown: Portland, OR
Background: I got addicted to running as a freshman at Jesuit High School and went on to run for Columbia University from 2009-2013. After a year in Portland rediscovering the trails, I relocated to San Diego to attend medical school.
Racing competitively since: 2004
3000m (track): 9:45 (2011)
5000m (track): 16:40 (2011)
5K (road): 17:08 (2015)
10000m (track): 34:44 (2011)
Favorite race: I haven’t tasted much of the San Diego road scene yet, but I did my first ultramarathon (Post Canyon 50k in Hood River, OR) this summer, which was pretty awesome. I’m feeling the pull of some epic trail stuff (and also can’t wait to get back to XC!).
Favorite workout: Super long trail runs with some tough hills
Words to live by: Work hard. Play harder.
Why I run for PRT: I bumped into the PRT ladies at the UCSD track one morning and noticed that they looked fun, fast, and no longer in college. “Who are you?!” I said. “And how can I join you?!?!” I soon discovered that they were the answer to my prayers: a fun, driven group of awesome people who shared my passion for running and would help me to nourish it. They’re supportive, inspiring, and did I mention fun? I couldn’t ask for anything more.
What I enjoy when I’m not running: Backpacking, skiing, rock climbing, paddle boarding, surfing, open water swimming…I freaking love being outside. I also love to cook and eat.
