Cortney Staruch

Hometown Hinckley, OH (30 miles south of Cleveland)

Background: I always had my heart set on being a volleyball player, but being only 5'2 I wasn't showing much potential. My sister encouraged me to start running in high school. Eventually, I started my running career as a walk-on at the University of Cincinnati. I ran cross country and track, which was one the the best decisions I have ever made!

I've been racing competitively since ...  2008

Words to live by: You only live once!

God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.

Why you choose to run for PRT: I spent my entire running career training with either teammates or my sister, so when I moved to San Diego I couldn't imagine not being a part of a team. When I found PRT it was a perfect fit -- a group of incredibly driven ladies who love to race. Not to mention I love the social aspect of running:)

What I like to do besides running ... Anything outdoors! I love camping, hiking, biking, paddleboarding, snowboarding, beach volleyball. I also like to cook... and eat!
