Chuck McKeown

Hometown: San Diego, CA

Background: Stanford's team was too good for me in college, but high school got me addicted to running, and I kept fit on my own. I really missed the feel of team racing though, so very happy to be back in a team environment.

I've been racing competitively since...1996 (freshman year of HS)

PRs:

3200 meters: 9:56 - 2000 high school
5K road race: 15:57 - 2014 Carlsbad 5000
10K road race: 33:40 - 2014 Coronado Valentines Day 10K
Half Marathon: 1:14:45 2010 "Carlsbad Half"

Favorite race: Orienteering Team Seeded Race, roughly 9 miles, Giant Forest, Sequoia National Park

Favorite workout: 14 mile extended mission bay loop, with dual tempo intervals

Words to live by: Life is better if you aren't afraid to laugh at yourself.

Why I run for PRT: Competition is fun on its own, but it is even better with great teammates. I really missed the team feeling from my high school running days, so has been wonderful to recapture that.

What I like to do besides running: I am rather addicted to ultimate frisbee. Gives a pretty nice speed workout, too! I love baking and cooking, and enjoy a good poker game.
